I am a student at the University of Phoenix pursuing a doctorate in Educational Technology and Leadership. I am conducting a research study titled The Roles, Practices, and Competencies of K-12 Online Learning Program Leaders. The purpose of this research study is to explore, identify, and develop a framework of leadership roles, practices, and competencies necessary for administrators to lead K-12 online learning programs.
In this study, I will use a modified Delphi approach that seeks to generate consensus among experts in the field of K-12 distance education in the United States. This study is anticipated to have four rounds of surveys and take place over a four to six week period, beginning February 1, 2011. The study is structured as described below:

I am assembling an expert panel to participate via a web-based survey instrument using a modified Delphi approach. I am seeking to identify participants through peer or self-nomination. Panelists should be expert practitioners in the area of K-12 online learning in the United States. Experts will be chosen based on the following criteria:
at least three years’ experience in the field of K-12 distance education; or
noteworthy contribution to the field, or
independent nomination by peers, and
willingness to participate.
An additional requirement will be experts with experience with online learning programs in the United States, and the ability to respond to questionnaires and communicate in English.
